We would like to thank all the people that attended and participated in the Spanish Teachers’ workshop organized by the SGEL publishing house on Saturday, December 3rd, as well as the excellent speakers and authors Miss Concha Moreno García and Mister Javier Castromil.

The organizers, the Spanish Programme Staff and the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic, are immensely grateful for your attendance and for turning the event into a big success.

On November 7th, SMLC held their annual Award Ceremony for students of the School. Students from various languages and area studies programmes attended the ceremony together with family and friends. The Spanish Programme had a total of 6 awards: 2 from the Consulate General of Spain in Hong Kong and Macao, and 1 each from the following universities: University of Alicante, University of Cádiz, University of Castilla-La Mancha (campus Toledo) and National University of Distance Education in Cuenca. Mr. Avelino Busto, Deputy Head of Mission from the Consulate General of Spain, and Ms. Rocío Blasco García, Spanish Programme Director from HKU, handed out the diplomas. Congratulations to all our awardees!

As one of ten HeForShe University IMPACT Champions, HKU is co-organising the first concert in support of HeForShe in Hong Kong with the Consulate General of Mexico in celebration of its 50th anniversary in the city. The concert will feature Magos Herrera, a most renowned jazz singer-songwriters from Latin America, also a supporter of HeForShe.

Like every November, the Argentina Food Wine and Culture Festival is back with a wide variety of events promoted by the Consulate General of the Argentine Republic, with the support of many other companies and institutions such as The University of Hong Kong, which will host the screening of two Argentine films within the Argentine Movie Days:

On the 11th and the 12th of March of 2016, for the fourth year in a row, the Spanish Teacher Training Conference of Hong Kong, organised by the Spanish Programme together with the Edinumen publishing house, and hosted by HKU, attracted more than a hundred people with four plenary lectures and twenty workshops given by academics, experts and educators from all over the world.
The repeated success of this event encourages us to continue celebrating it in the future.

The Spanish Program of the School of Modern Languages and Cultures at HKU, PRAGDA-Spanish Film Club, the Ministry of Education, Sports and Culture of Spain and Spain Arts & Culture, and the Consulates General of Argentina, Mexico, and Spain in Hong Kong invite you to enjoy cinema from Latin America and Spain from March 31 to April 16 at the University of Hong Kong. ¡Ya tenemos fecha para las Jornadas de 2016! Los días 11 y 12 de marzo podremos volver a vernos en esta cita consolidada e imprescindible para la formación de los profesores de español en Hong Kong.

Como viene siendo habitual, la Universidad de La Rioja colaborará en la formación de los profesores sorteando una beca completa entre los asistentes para un curso de posgrado, dentro de su oferta de cursos de posgrados online en el área de enseñanza del español, título propio de la Universidad de La Rioja.
