The Spanish programmes (Major, Minor and Non-credit) stretch over a period of three to four years and students should enrol as early as their first year of studies at the University. The programmes aim to give students a good command of the Spanish language in the four skill areas of speaking, listening, reading and writing, as well as to provide them with an in-depth understanding of contemporary society and culture in the Spanish-speaking world.
Students taking Spanish are encouraged to travel to a Spanish-speaking country during the course of their studies, preferably in the summer period after completing their second/third year. Longer stays of one or two semesters are also encouraged through the Worldwide Exchange Programme with OISE.
Locally, the Spanish Programme cooperates closely with all Spanish-speaking consulates with representation in Hong Kong (Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Spain and Venezuela).
